President’s Report

It is with great pleasure that I deliver the final President’s Report for 2019. For those of you who were able to attend the AGM and Christmas Party at Boat O’Craigo on the evening of 27 November, I’m sure you will agree with me what a great night it was. It was a lovely balmy, not-quite summer, evening, and Kylie and her colleagues at Boat O’Craigo provided us with a great spread of food and drinks. The Events sub-committee, in particular Joan and Glenda, did such a great job in selecting the venue and organising the event, not to mention the regular Networking Events throughout the year.

I would like to thank our departing President, Keith Darke, under whose stewardship we have witnessed a substantial growth in our membership numbers, which reflects the continuing relevance of the organisation to the Tourism Industry in the Yarra Valley. I would also like to farewell the other departing committee members: Joan Lloyd, George van Graas and Kerry Stanton. To Joan (and John), I wish you a happy retirement and I feel sure that we will continue to see you at TNYV events. To George and Kerry, we hope that you will continue as active members of the organisation long into the future. To all our departing committee members – thank you for your dedication and service to the committee and to the wider membership.

It was very encouraging to see so much interest in the general committee positions, and I am grateful to those who threw their hat in the ring for a position. It is a rare event at an AGM for TNYV (and many other volunteer organisations) that we received more nominations than the number of positions available. Special thanks should go to those who demonstrated their commitment to the organisation by their willingness to take on a committee position, but who were ultimately unsuccessful due to the limitation on the size of the committee. I am confident that there will be opportunities for you to contribute your talents in other ways.

To our new committee members: Cath, Rachel, Rebecca and Sara – welcome to the team. We look forward to the fresh outlook and perspectives that you will bring to the new committee. And last but not least, I would like to thank the continuing committee members: Andrew, Caroline, Glenda, Paul and Prue. Your experience is much appreciated and I look forward to working with you and the new members in the year ahead.
I look forward to the new challenges that 2020 will present and I also look forward to travelling along that path with you all. Season’s Greetings and very best wishes to all our members, their partners and families and best wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2020.

Editor’s Note

Thank you to all our members for your continued support throughout the year and for helping make the Yarra Valley a must visit destination. We’ve had a very productive year, there’s been lot’s of networking and great ideas have been discussed. We are pretty lucky to live in such a beautiful region.

We hope you and your loved ones have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you at one of our networking events in 2020.

If you have a venue that would be suitable to host one of our TNYV Pub Nights or breakfasts next year, let us know! We’d love to visit and promote your business amongst the TNYV Community. Next year we will also be conducting 3 ‘famil’ tours, visiting 4-5 member businesses on each one. Let us know if you are interested in hosting or attending one of these tours. Dates to be confirmed early next year.

Till our next newsletter, enjoy the Summer festivities!
