President’s Report

I’m sure you were all as delighted (or relieved!) as I was when I heard the announcement about the lifting of some of the COVID-19 restrictions early last week. Hopefully, we will all have something more to celebrate on 8 November when, all being well, we will no longer be limited to journeying more than 25km from home. I also understand that for many businesses, if not all, this will represent a major milestone in returning to something closer to normal.

There is a wealth of information on social media and elsewhere about how you can best kickstart your respective businesses. But as always, we need to continue to support one another, and look for opportunities for synergy between our businesses. If you attended the recent Virtual Cheese and Wine Night, you would have discovered that Healesville Sanctuary offers a discount on Admission to guests of TNYV member businesses. Don’t feel shy, let’s get creative and approach other TNYV businesses with ways of making offers to visitors to the Valley which may have mutual benefits for the respective businesses.

I am eagerly anticipating a return of social activities in the Valley, and specifically in relation to what TNYV can provide for its members. We’re not quite there yet, but for those who attended, the TNYV Virtual Cheese & Wine Night represented a tentative first step along that path. I would like to thank Andrew Blount-Greene for organising the event and for those members of the committee who delivered the Cheese & Wine packs to your homes. We had a good “Zoom-chat” whilst stuffing our faces with the delicious contents of The Cheese Box from the Yarra Valley Cheese Box Co., accompanied by a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir from Soumah of Yarra Valley.

Please note the forthcoming TNYV Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Thursday 26th November. In a first for TNYV, this year the AGM will be conducted virtually on Zoom. I would encourage you to attend if you can. It promises to be somewhat challenging, but we’ve all faced much tougher challenges during 2020, so login and join the fun!

I look forward to seeing your happy smiling faces.

President
