President’s Report

It was great to see so many members at our networking event at Alowyn Gardens. Thanks to Prue and John for hosting us and to all who contributed to a great event supporting HICCI.

As you may know the State Government is conducting a review of regional tourism in Victoria. Following the October Yarra Ranges Tourism Board meeting we received a briefing from the review team. In light of that briefing I would like you to consider these questions.
• Should the State Government support regional tourism with greater funding?
• Is a regional tourism body that stretches from Warrandyte to Phillip Island capable of looking after your business?
• Can a single organisation market multiple brands? (e.g. Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley)
• Would you be a business partner with an organisation that also markets your key competition?
The review is not yet complete however we need to be prepared to respond quickly when its findings are announced. It may also result in TNYV having to consider its place in supporting tourism in the Yarra Valley. We watch with interest!

I look forward to seeing you all at the AGM.

November 27 – AGM & Christmas Dinner at Boat O’Craigo

There are 8 TNYV newsletters annually. Look out for additional email, text messages and Facebook communications throughout the month. Newsletter and Facebook contributions about tourism news and events in the Yarra Valley are most welcome.

If you have a venue that would be suitable to host one of our TNYV Pub Nights or breakfasts next year, let us know! We’d love to visit and promote your business amongst the TNYV Community. Next year we will also be conducting 3 ‘famil’ tours, visiting 4-5 member businesses on each one. Let us know if you are interested in hosting or attending one of these tours. Dates to be confirmed early next year.

Remember to invite non-members to our networking events so they can see what we are all about. Tell your tourism friends how much they will benefit having a connection to the local Tourism Network. The bigger our community, the more diverse we become and the greater tourism will be in the Yarra Valley for all of us. They can join at anytime!

Till our next newsletter, enjoy the Spring sunshine!
