It wasn’t that long ago that the Networking & Events Sub-Committee were busy organising venues for pub nights and breakfasts, not to mention the work being done by the Conference Sub-Committee in vetting suitable venues for this year’s conference…….but unfortunately Covid-19 has put that all on hold. All these recent weeks being stuck at home makes that seem like an eternity ago.
I know that all our businesses have been hit very hard and that some of you may be experiencing some difficulties, but if it is of any consolation, I firmly believe that Australia (and the state of Victoria) is one of the best places to be during this health and economic crisis. The recent growth in TNYV has been driven by engagement, between people and businesses, and this is something we need to hang onto during the times ahead. With this in mind, the morning of 1st May witnessed our first virtual networking event on Zoom, courtesy of Sara Lee of Hop It (thank you Sara!). Given our relative inexperience with this medium, I thought it went very well. It was a great opportunity to catch-up with some familiar faces that we haven’t seen in some time, “chew the fat” and share our respective news stories and gather information, and all from the comfort of our own (or parents’) home, or even car! We hope to make this a regular event for as long as the current pandemic restrictions remain in place. For those of you who couldn’t join us, we hope to see you at the next one.
I look forward to better times ahead.
